Cuidados com a peça
Uma peça da DONÓ segue depois do estúdio, no espaço que ocupa, no uso cotidiano e no cuidado que recebe.
We design pieces to endure and accompany time. Longevity begins in the choice of material and continues in care.
We work with wood, metal,
glass, resin and fabric through
traditional and experimental
processes. Each surface
asks for its own kind of attention.
Sobre a Madeira
Wood has accompanied
DONÓ since the beginning.
It is a material of craft,
study and construction.
( 01 )
Living material
Wood is a living material. Tone, grain, knots, natural fissures and density may vary from piece to piece and across production batches. These characteristics belong to the material itself and are valued by DONÓ through design, finishing and craftsmanship.
( 02 )
Natural tones
Pieces in natural tones are finished with natural oils and waxes, preserving the tactile quality, grain and character of the surface. Protection is achieved without creating a plastic-like layer over the wood.
( 03 )
Experimental finishes
In stained pieces, colour is applied before the final finish. As each wood species carries its own tone, grain and absorption, subtle colour variations may occur between pieces, surfaces and production batches.
( 04 )
Wood and time
Over time, wood may darken, expand or contract, and develop small marks or microfissures, especially when exposed to sunlight, humidity or heat. These transformations belong to the nature of the material and call for care in everyday use.
MATERIALS & GENERAL CARE
01.
Wood
CARE
Wood pieces should remain indoors, protected from prolonged direct sunlight, humidity, rain and extreme temperature changes.
Wood pieces should remain indoors, protected from prolonged direct sunlight, humidity, rain and extreme temperature changes.
Glasses, vases, wet, hot, sharp or abrasive objects should not be placed directly on the surface. We recommend the use of coasters or protective supports to preserve the finish.
CLEANING
¹ Clean gently using a soft, dry and clean cloth.
² When necessary, use a cloth lightly dampened with water only and dry immediately. Do not scrub, soak or allow liquids to rest on the wood.
³ Do not use alcohol, solvents, strong detergents, multipurpose cleaners, abrasive sponges, industrial furniture polish or oil-based products without guidance from the studio.
02.
GLASS
CARE
Glass should be protected from impacts, concentrated pressure and sudden temperature changes.
Avoid placing very hot, heavy or sharp objects directly on the surface. Even durable glass may scratch, chip or crack when subjected to impact or improper use.
CLEANING
¹ Use a soft, clean cloth lightly dampened with water or a glass-specific cleaner.
² Apply the product to the cloth, never directly onto the piece, especially when wood, metal or resin are nearby. Finish with a dry cloth to avoid stains and water marks.
03.
ALUMINIUM
CARE
Cast aluminium may present irregular texture, process marks, subtle surface variations and differences from one piece to another.
These characteristics belong to the casting process and the material language of the object. Avoid impacts, friction with abrasive objects, accumulated moisture and prolonged contact with acidic, alkaline or corrosive substances.
Over time, aluminium may naturally oxidise and develop darker areas. This is an inherent characteristic of both the material and the handcrafted casting process.
CLEANING
¹ Clean using a soft, dry and clean cloth.
² When necessary, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and dry immediately. On textured surfaces, remove dust using a soft cloth or a dry brush with gentle bristles.
³ Do not use steel wool, rough sponges, alcohol, bleach, abrasive cleaners, removers, harsh polishes or abrasive products.
04.
STAINLESS STEEL
CARE
Stainless steel is highly durable, yet still requires care to preserve its finish.
Avoid contact with corrosive products, bleach, steel wool, abrasive objects and accumulated moisture. Finger marks and small surface stains may appear over time.
CLEANING
¹ Use a soft, dry cloth for daily care.
² For fingerprints or light stains, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and mild soap, drying thoroughly afterwards.
³ Do not use abrasive, chlorine-based or harsh cleaning products.
05.
RESIN
CARE
Resin is sensitive to scratches, excessive heat, chemical products and prolonged sun exposure.
Subtle variations in colour, transparency, sheen and small marks may develop over time, especially in pieces exposed to intense light.
CLEANING
¹ Use a soft, dry cloth for daily care.
² For fingerprints or light stains, use a cloth lightly dampened with water and mild soap, drying thoroughly afterwards.
³ Do not use abrasive, chlorine-based or harsh cleaning products.
06.
FABRIC
CARE
Fabrics used by DONÓ should be protected from excessive friction, humidity, direct sunlight and contact with sharp or rough objects.
When specified, velvet includes Easy Clean technology, with a liquid- and stain-repellent treatment that facilitates everyday maintenance. Even so, immediate care remains essential to preserve the fabric.
CLEANING
¹ For dust or surface dirt, use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment, always in gentle movements.
² In the event of liquid spills, absorb immediately using a dry cloth or absorbent paper, without rubbing. Press gently until the excess is removed.
³ For persistent stains, do not apply harsh products. We recommend professional upholstery cleaning.
